Blog 5- My study programme

Enter to the university was a very different experience as it is very distinct from high school. Since I am in my first semester, the subjects they teach us are not so focused on the career, except for "skills for professional practice". I must admit that it was not easy to get used to it, since the way of teaching is very different, besides it is much more than what they taught at school and the attitude of the professors also changes a lot.

Of all the subjects I have this semester my favorite is "skills for professional practice" because they do practical activities to improve our skills, it's fun because it's like playing the dentist hehe.

Another subject I like is "biological basics", this one is quite difficult but I have always liked biology, I think it is just amazing and the tissues look very beautiful when you look at them under the microscope.

As well as there are subjects that I liked there are also some that I didn't like so much, one of these is Physics, even though I have good grades I never liked this subject, neither in school nor in the university, I find it boring and honestly I hate calculations hehe.

Another subject that I didn't like is Anatomy, studying the human body is very nice, however it is very stressful, you teach us a lot of material in just one class and it is complicated to identify the parts in a real body because they are very different from what we can see in the images.

Anyway, college has been full of changes for me but I am still very happy to be here and to have met new people.

Blog 4- My postgraduate studies

Hello readers,

Honestly until now I have not thought much about my postgraduate studies, I had planned to decide throughout my career to know which area is the one that I am most passionate about, however there are two specialties that I would like to study.

The specialty that most attracts my attention is pediatric dentistry because if a problem is identified in a child this will prevent many more in the future, so it is very important that children have good dental health, one of the things I do not like about this specialty is that children are usually scared when they go to the dentist so they may throw tantrums, the good thing is that lately has been implementing canotherapy in which dogs are used to improve the response and emotional support in children with disabilities.

Another specialty that I would like is legal and forensic dentistry, in my opinion it is a very interesting specialty especially for the fact that you can know who the corpse belongs to through the teeth. Before entering the career I did not know that I could specialize in this until one day a professor mentioned it in a class and I was quite surprised.

There are very few places to apply for these specialties and they also ask for a basic or intermediate level English certificate.

I think that the choice of my postgraduate studies is very important so I should think about it well and although these two are the ones that call my attention at the moment my opinion could change throughout the career, I hope to experience different areas throughout this to be sure of my decision.

Blog 3- My dream job.

 When I was child I dreamed of being a dancer, I always enrolled in the academies and participated in the dances organized by the school, I really enjoyed it a lot but there came a day when I began to lose interest and gradually stopped doing it, I no longer had as much fun as before.

After that I dreamed of studying medicine and being able to help people but as I got older I realized that it was an idea influenced by my mother, however I still liked the health area and for many years I said that this was my dream career because I didn't  know what to say.

After a while I started to investigate about different jobs, I was looking for a long time because none of them called my attention, until one day a friend told me that I could study Odontology and I started to investigate more about this career, I saw videos about the work they did and I loved it completely, this was my only option when applying so if the score was not enough I probably would have taken a sabbatical year.

The reasons why I liked this career was to be able to help people and the fact that it is a very manual career, which I found very entertaining, also the salary is very good, approximately 1.500.000-2.000.000.000.

I would really love to be able to travel doing what I like, I hope someday to be able to do it, I also had thought about doing my specialty in another country, I think it would be a very good experience.

Blog 2- My best holidays ever

The best vacation I had was 1 month before the covid-19 arrived in Chile, it is my favorite trip because I visited many places but mainly because I had a lot of fun, I went with almost all my paternal family (they are very funny).

I arrived at Puerto Montt airport with my grandparents, my parents and my brother in February 2020 (I don't remember the exact date)and I stayed for 2 weeks.

The first thing we did was to visit my grandmother's cousin who lives in Puerto Octay, her house is in the middle of the countryside, her only neighbors are horses and you have to cross the road to find phone signal. 

After that we received a call from my aunt saying that they wanted to join us, we were 12 people in total so we were very tight during the trip.

The first place we went to was Chiloe, to get there we had to get on a ferry, when we arrived we visited the pier of the souls, I was very tired, nobody told me that I had to walk so much, we walked for about 1 hour and a half, also before going there it had rained so the road was quite slippery and my aunt fell many times, she was full of mud, I laughed a lot at her😂.

We also visited the thermals springs of Puyehue, Osorno and Valdivia. Even though it was summer, it was cold and it rained a lot, my mom thought it would be hot and almost all the clothes she wore were summer clothes.

BLOG 1- A Country I Would Love To Visit

 

I had a hard time making this decision because there are many places I would like to visit but definitely one of the places that catches my attention is Canada. I have heard many good things about this country.

Canada is the second bigest country in the world and has many tourist places that I would love to visit.

Churchill "The kingdom of polar bears"

One of the places that I want to visit was Churchill, to get there you only have the option of using rail or plane, since there is no road that connects it with the rest of Canada. The reason why I want to go to this place is because you can see polar bears, not for nothing they call it the kingdom of polar bears, you must take special vehicles with a cage to see them up close, as they are very dangerous animals, there is also the option to see them without this vehicle, as long as you comply with safety measures, another alternative is the boat trip, in which you can also see whales.

Niagara Falls

Another very famous tourist place in this country is the Niagara Falls, located 1 hour and 40 minutes from the city of Toronto. These falls serve as a natural border between Canada and the United States and can be visited from both countries, measure approximately 60 meters and there are trails that produce the illusion of being under the falls 😲.

In addition to these places, in Canada you can also see northern lights, glaciers, lakes, etc. Canada has many beautiful places to visit (but definitely churchill is my favorite)
